A brief history of...
County Louth
A popular theory behind the origin of the county name Louth is that the Gaelic version, “Lú”, means "the least" as it is the smallest of the original counties. The county actually takes its name from the village of Louth, “Lughbhadh” in Irish, referring to the Celtic god, Lugh.
